Better Golf Secrets

How We Research Equipment

We believe golfers deserve to know exactly what kind of research sits behind a recommendation. Here's precisely what our equipment coverage does and doesn't involve today.

Three sources of information, clearly separated

  • Manufacturer specifications: loft ranges, head sizes, material claims and similar facts published by the brand itself.
  • Independent research and editorial analysis: our own explanation of buying criteria, category tradeoffs, and general equipment principles (like how bounce or compression works), grounded in publicly available, widely corroborated golf equipment knowledge.
  • Hands-on testing: only claimed when it has genuinely happened. Our current buyer guides are editorial orientation based on the first two sources — we have not independently lab-tested the products referenced in them.
What this means in practiceYou will not see us write "we tested" a product unless a specific, genuine testing process actually took place. Where we haven't tested something, we say so directly rather than implying otherwise.

No fabricated ratings

We do not publish star ratings, review counts, or "4.8/5" style scores that aren't backed by a real, disclosed methodology. If you see a rating anywhere on this site that doesn't cite its source, please let us know — it shouldn't be there.

Affiliate links, separately disclosed

Some products link to Amazon or other retailers through affiliate links, disclosed on every page that contains them and explained fully in our affiliate disclosure. Affiliate relationships never determine which products we mention or how we describe them.

How this will evolve

As genuine hands-on testing becomes part of our process, we will update the relevant guides to clearly cite it, distinct from the general research and editorial analysis that make up our current coverage.
